How Slow Cooking Can Save You Money

I have really been getting into cooking lately. I have tried all kinds of recipes. Just last night I made a poached coconut Blue Hake fish with mixed greens and quinoa. I love making intricate meals and winging recipes, but I can’t do it every day. With a busy schedule like mine, you have to find cheap and easy ways to feed your family. I just started looking into slow cooking. It’s known to be cost-effective and doesn’t require too much effort for you. If you are interested, follow along to learn how slow cooking can save you money.

Fast-Food

When it comes to a fast-paced lifestyle, you get busy all day and are tired when it’s time to go home. That results in a lot of eating out. My fast-food habit runs me upwards of $500 a month. With a dump-and-go policy, you can easily throw a few ingredients together in your slow cooker. Just turn it on and have a delicious meal ready and waiting when you walk through the door. Not only will the meal be cost-effective, but it will also probably be more nutritious.

Fewer Ingredients

When your cooking fancy meals in the kitchen, they usually require a lot of ingredients. My poached fish meal required liquid aminos, coconut milk, brown sugar, maple syrup, and a host of other kitchen staples. While I improvised, you don’t have to run through a lengthy list of ingredients for slow cooker recipes. You can make meals with a simple broth, a cheap cut of meat, and a few vegetables. This will help cut down your grocery bill.

Saves Time

Aside from simpler meals, slow cooker meals are a breeze. When I’m cooking regular meals, I use a lot of spoons, knives, plates, and pans. With slow cooker meals, you only need your slow cooker and maybe a spook for mixing and tasting. Less cooking utensils and pans make for an easier cleanup process. I hear that using a slow cooker can also save you money on your energy bill.

No matter how much you like to cook, in a busy week you are probably not up to it. Instead of picking up fast-food or spending time cooking, dump and go with an easy to assemble slow cooker meal. Not only are they delicious, but slow cooking can save you money.
